Privacy at Tinkat Alley Art Studio
This page says what happens to your details when you send us a message through this website. It is short because the website does very little with them.
Tinkat Alley Art Studio is a small gallery and teaching studio at 4 Wallsend Rd, Fassifern. We are not a data business, and whether or not the Privacy Act formally covers a studio our size, this is how we handle what you send us.
What we hold
Your name and email, your phone number if you choose to give it, and whatever you wrote in the message box.
Nothing else. There is no account to create here.
Why we hold it
So Kate can answer you. Replying to your question is the only reason the form exists.
It is never used to sell you something you did not ask about.
Who sees it
Kate, the artist if your question is about their piece, and Jezweb, who built this website and look after it.
Nobody else, and it is never posted anywhere public.
What the enquiry form asks for
If it is not a box you can see and fill in yourself, we do not have it. Here is every one of them.
| The box | Do we need it | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Name | Yes | Knowing who we are writing back to. |
| Yes | Where the reply goes. Without it there is no way to answer you. | |
| Phone | No, optional | A faster answer. Handy when you are asking about one particular piece and someone else is asking about it too. |
| What is it about | Pick one of five | The gallery, a piece of art, weekly classes, workshops and events, or supplies and the shop. It tells Kate what she is opening before she opens it. |
| Message | Up to you | What you actually want to ask. Some people write a line, some write a page. Both are fine. |
The box you never see
There is one more field on the form, hidden off the side of the page. Only automated spam scripts fill it in, and when it comes back filled the message is discarded. It never asks you for anything.
It works without JavaScript
If you browse with scripts turned off, the form still sends. Nothing on this website needs JavaScript to reach us, and nothing extra is collected when it is switched on.
Where your message goes
It leaves your browser
Your message travels to our website over an encrypted connection, the padlock you can see in your address bar.
It is saved
The message is stored in the studio's enquiry records, which sit with our website provider Jezweb and can only be opened by them and by Kate.
Kate gets an email
What you wrote is passed straight to the studio, so nothing waits on somebody remembering to log in and check.
She writes back
By email, or by phone if you left a number and that suits the question better. Then it is done.
How long we keep it
Past enquiries stay in the records, so when someone comes back a year later asking about the piece they enquired about we can find the conversation. If you would rather yours was not kept, phone the studio or send a message saying so and we will delete it.
Waitlists and class places
Two of our weekly classes are full and run a waitlist. If you ask to go on one, we keep your name and contact details until a place comes up or you tell us you no longer want one. They are not used for anything else.
What this website never does
- No cookies for visitors.
- No Google Analytics, no advertising pixels, no social media trackers.
- No selling, renting or swapping your details with anyone.
- No mailing list. Sending a message does not sign you up to anything.
- No following you around other websites after you leave.
- No account to create, no password to remember.
How we count visits
We do like to know whether people are reading the classes page or the artists page. The counting happens on our own server as the page is sent to you. There is no script running in your browser and no cookie involved, so there is nothing here for you to agree to or switch off.
What one page view records
- Which page was opened
- The country the request came from
- The site you followed a link from, its name only, such as google.com
- Whether you are on a phone, a tablet or a computer
- Whether the visit looks like a search engine crawler rather than a person
What it does not record
- Your name or email
- Your IP address or your suburb
- Anything you typed
- Any way to tie one visit to another, or to you
The one cookie, and it is not about you
When Kate opens this site through her own dashboard link, her browser is marked so that her visits are left out of the count. That mark is the only cookie this website sets. If you have not arrived through that link, no cookie is set at all.
When you leave this site
Buying a piece
The buy button on an artwork takes you to our store at tinkat.com to finish the order. Payment is handled there by the payment provider, and card numbers are never held by this website.
Maps and directions
Our address links open Google Maps so you can get driving directions to Wallsend Rd. From the moment the map opens, Google's terms apply rather than ours.
Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest
The icons at the bottom of every page are ordinary links to our pages on those sites. Nothing from them is embedded here, so they cannot see you until you click through.
Questions people actually ask
Do I have to give you my phone number?
Will I end up on a mailing list?
Who reads my message?
I enquired about a painting a while back. Do you still have that?
Do you use cookies?
Can I just ring you instead of using the form?
Ask us, we will tell you straight
If you want your details removed, or you would like to know exactly what we hold about you, ask. It is a small studio and the answer takes about a minute to find.
